Discovery Park Expansion Opens Next to Pinnacle

A new section of Discovery Park is now open next to the Pinnacle community of new homes in Meridian ID. The new facilities will provide even more recreational opportunities for people of all ages.

City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 27 to open Phase II of the popular park. The new phase expands the park’s total developed acreage to 64, which is more than twice the original size.

New amenities at Discovery Park include pickleball courts, basketball courts, tennis and bocce courts, three softball fields, a 40-yard dash, a walking path, and a bike park. A designated Teen Area features a skate park and sand volleyball. Other new facilities include picnic shelters with electricity and charcoal grills, public artwork, seating areas, and a concession building with restrooms. There are also more parking spaces and a designated site for future community gardens.

The original 27-acre portion of the park has nature-themed adventure activities, including zip lines, a climbing wall and boulders, and roller slides. It also has a splash pad, sand/water play area, ball fields, a dog park, and more.

Discovery Park is located in South Meridian at 2121 E. Lake Hazel Rd., next to Brighton’s Pinnacle community.

Pinnacle has its own array of amenities coming soon as well. A large central gathering park with an event lawn and amphitheater will host activities and performances for the community. Micro parks with playgrounds will be convenient for children to play outdoors. Walking paths and a swimming pool coming in 2024 provide great ways for residents to exercise or relax.
